FATTY LIVER

What is Fatty Liver?

Fatty liver (also known as hepatic steatosis) happens when too much fat builds up in the liver. The liver holds a bit of fat, but a fatty liver situation arises if the fat is more than 5–10% of the liver's weight.

Occurs in people who drink little or no alcohol. It's a common issue among individuals who are overweight, or dealing with diabetes, high cholesterol, or metabolic syndrome. It can progress to Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) — where there’s liver inflammation and damage.

Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Heavy drinking leads to AFLD. Can be an early stage of alcohol-related liver problem
