JOINT PAIN

What is Joint Pain?

Aching joints happen when you feel pain, stiffness, or discomfort in places where your bones connect — such as your knees, elbows, or shoulders. This can result from an injury, overuse, or health issues like arthritis. In some cases, the joint may swell, feel warm, or become hard to move. The pain in your joints can range from mild to severe and may come and go.

Types of Joint Pains

Osteo Arthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common knee arthritis. This occurs when the cartilage in the knee is wears down, causing pain and hardness. In the early stages, pain can occur during activities such as running only. As it deteriorates, everyday functions like walking or cleaning can be painful. Post-tramatic osteoarthritis can develop years after knee injury, even if it is cured.

Similar to gout, pseudogout is caused by the accumulation of calcium pyrophosphate crystals. Doctors often refer to the pseudogout as calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPPD). These small crystals in joints can cause sudden, severe knee pain, swelling, warmth, and redness. Pseudogout is less common than gout, but more likely to affect the knee joint.

Symptoms, such as joint pain or swelling of the eye, can also appear a day or month after cleaning the infection.
